Michelle Carpenter netted a pair of goals Wednesday to lead the Bath Haverling girls soccer team to a 4-0 shutout of Campbell-Savona in the first round of the Keuka Classic.  

The Rams will move on to play Elmira Southside at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the tournament championship.

Laura Hillman netted a goal in regulation and added a second score in overtime to help Elmira Southside advance at the Keuka Classic.

Formula One report – Jaime Alguersuari scores a point for the Scuderia Toro Rosso, but then has it taken away!

A post race drive through penalty was handed to Toro Rosso’s Jaime Alguersuari for cutting a chicane while overtaking Tonio Liuzzi at the end of lap 42.

“I have had a good weekend and already I was happy with my performance in qualifying yesterday while today, I had the most exciting race of my career. It was very difficult to make the right call on tyre choice. I think that within our team’s potential, today’s performance was not too bad and I am delighted to have picked up another point. I can’t wait for Monza now and the chance to put on a good show for all the people from our factory who will be there to watch the race.”

Spa-Francorchamps, 29 August – Lewis Hamilton won the Belgian Grand Prix, the thirteenth round of the World Championship which has just ended on the historic Spa-Francorchamps circuit.

The Englishman in the McLaren finished ahead of Mark Webber in the Red Bull and Robert Kubica in the Renault. Felipe Massa brought his Ferrari home in fourth place, while in the other F10, Fernando Alonso’s race ended early, after he staged a fantastic fight up the field, having bit been hit by Rubens Barrichello’s Williams in the opening stages. Unfortunately, he then lost control of his car, which got stuck on the kerbs, with just seven laps remaining.

The 38-year-old Barrichello qualified seventh for Sunday’s 44-lap race, where variable conditions leave the Williams driver believing he can perform well at a track he’s finished on the podium twice before.

Barrichello has raced in more than a third of the sport’s 832 races since 1950, but most remember him playing second fiddle to Schumacher at Ferrari. At the 2002 Austrian GP, Ferrari ordered Barrichello to give up victory to Schumacher on the final stretch.
